Milani - Hi-Tech

Of all the Milani 3D Holographic polishes, this and Cyberspace are the only ones I've managed to get a holographic effect out of. The rest just look... sparkly. Pretty, still, but not holographic! I own 4 out of the 6 shades (I always buy 'em when they're BOGO50%OFF) though I haven't gotten a chance to swatch them yet because I keep breaking or chipping my nails... hence the recent lack of the promised nail swatches. I was wearing the gold Milani holo yesterday and had full intention of swatching it, but I chipped it while putting together a chair because the exercise ball I was originally using as a sitting surface popped on me. (Note to Target: while this is a perfectly adequate chair, I don't think anything that comes in a cardbox box and has to assembled with an Allen wrench counts as "fine furniture.") Anyway, this is a springy, yellow-based green. Usually these look pretty terrible on me and bring out the red in my skintone and emphasizes how torn-up my cuticles are, but this one isn't too bad. Maybe if it was just a SMIDGE darker...

Dim lighting brings out the holo-ness.

... unfortunately, it's not that apparent under regular lighting.

Close up of the texture: looks like tiny little crystals on the nail.

It's a pretty sheer polish; needs three coats. Two coats is reasonably opaque but streaky, and three coats really evens it out. Good thing it dries pretty fast, especially with a layer of Seche Vite on top.

  1. I think it's a good color on you! Kinda matches the blog. :P It definitely reminds me of spring and Easter.

  3. @Carol - It's definitely starting to grow on me! It's a tricky green shade, looking at it now, it looks quite different in the sunlight.

@sncport - two bands, yup. (Psst... it's CZ. Needed something to keep dudes from hitting on me whenever I was out and about.) I personally think it's a little too big and gaudy on me... I usually prefer smaller, more delicate jewelry.
